This beautiful old French measuring pot is made of metal with pinned hoops at the top and bottom.
This large, heavy, ten litre capacity jar probably dates from the late 1800s to early 1900s and would have been used to measure grain and other items in French grocery stores or farms. The tub has a wonderful primitive feel with the lovely 'decalitre' label on the front, the simple handle inside, the old nails and the metal's rich patina with lovely marks and worn patches. This pot would make a great vase for dried seed heads, a perfect store for kitchen utensils or would simply be a lovely decorative piece in your home.
