Dating from the late 1800s to early 1900s, this is a very beautiful and intricate piece of every day, Japanese history. A bundle of antique Japanese shop accounts kept on old 'washi' paper and tied together with a piece of old string. Each page gives a unique daily record of what the shopkeeper sold; noted down in beautiful, primitive Japanese calligraphy.
Some of the pages have slight tears and creases but given its age and fragility, this piece is in great rustic condition. I love these unique pieces and think it would make a beautiful wall hanging. It could be easily hung from the old string at the top.
