Dating from the late 1800s to early 1900s, this is a very delicate and intricate piece of every day, Japanese history. A bundle of antique Japanese shop accounts kept on old 'washi' paper and tied together into a book using a lovely old piece of card and string. Each page gives a unique daily record of what the shopkeeper sold; noted down by him or her in beautiful, primitive Japanese calligraphy.
Some of the pages have slight tears and creases but given its age and fragility, this piece is in great rustic condition. It would make a beautiful and unique coffee table piece or would just look lovely styled on a shelf.
