Set of two, lovely French vintage metal strainers. In rural French farmhouses, the simple rustic pot strainer was used to make cheese. Curdled milk was left to strain in these and thicken into fresh cheese. The egg shaped strainer, rather surprisingly, was used to drain eggs!
Today, they would look great as part of a rustic kitchen display, working as little storage/display pots for garlic or shallots or as small colanders for berries or little tomatoes. They could also be used to serve nuts or other lovely nibbles! Or, they would also work as pretty tealight holders for your summer garden table as the light would really dance through their little holes.
The strainers are in good condition for their age and years of use. The rim of the pot is slightly misshapen (see photos) but this does not detract from its beauty or ability to be used.
