A beautiful, large, old metal measuring bucket which has been painted black on the outside and red on the inside.
This lovely bucket, with a rich patina of knocks and scraps from it's years of use, has striking stencilled lettering on the front which is an abbreviation for 'half a hectolitre = five decalitres'. These measurements are used for produce like wine, beer, grain and other agricultural items which gives us a bit of insight into this piece's history. The thin handle inside also shows us how this bucket was once used as a measuring tool.
It has such great character with rivets around the top and lovely seams in the metal, showing how the bucket was put together. There is a dent at the back but for me, this only all adds to it's charm.
This large, decorative bucket would make a great planter in your home or garden or could be a useful piece of general storage in any room.
